Late in the evening I got a text from artist super hero Anthony Lister, aka, 'The Lister' about some trouble brewing in the vacant Faile studio. Curious I grabbed my trusty camping knife and darted toward the train without so much as a clear thought in my sleepless mind. A couple few train stops later I had arrived at the infamous studio formerly inhabited by Faile. Only now 'The Lister' was running the show, and what a completely different show it was. Needless to say it was a real adventure at the very least, hope you ate breakfast, you're going to need you're strength!
Hit this train just in time.
Rode this crust wagon into Manhattan
Where I jumped on the L, and I was casually taking pictures of shoes.
When all the sudden this girl started to do the Hokie Pokie!?
Or I mean killed a roach... Only in New York would one be able to witness such a fascinating spectacle.
With the glow of neon and shine of chrome I knew I was getting closer.
Then, at last I had arrived.
There usual and un-usual suspects in the house...
As well as a whole shit pot full of new Lister paintings in progress.
This on the left would be a painting of the easy flow MC, Despot. Check him out!
Both these numbers were coming along nicely... The one on the left is rockin' a Waldo sweater and the one on the right is all marionette creepy.
I am a fan of stripes... It is a known fact!
The spirit of Faile lingers...
Good to see Alex again, he has his hands in lots of projects that we will bring ya down the road... and this chick, um yeah!
Really like these Lister glaze pieces
In the smaller studio there was a high fashion photo shoot kicking off.
Urban Outfitters was preparing for the fall 09 catalog, starring Sue!
Ha... Just kidding, the real photo-shoot was already over and none of us had anything to do with it, as far as I know...
Me and this Rat were just fucking around.
Same camera western style draw... Bang Bang, Rat!
Did any of you head over to the Banksy shop. Yeah, this was in the lurking round there...
I met Gus who was getting artist...
By learning how to tattoo himself!
The Lister was not letting the nights events deter him from getting his paint on.
And he was def laying down some paint.
Like the color blocks he has running in this line of work.
Lister paints really fast, with fast strokes... and bounces around a lot.
Brent is Listers right hand Australian homie... He rocks out most of the photos for Anthony's books. Face value, no bullshit kind of guy.... respect brother!
He was taking advantage of the photo accessories and getting his own shoot on.
And I was getting all fish-eye with Lister's lens
IO the lady behind the super awesome street art magazine Overspay was in the house.
She was getting down on some menu repo
Even super heroes have to hit the throne!
That dewd in the black look like he is up to some shady shit... I am on to his racket!
Despot is posing all slick next to his Lister portrait.
Black is the new black.
Hey, wait a minute... Isn't that the wrong kind of hero?
Hey, whoa muthafucka, who you calling a rat?!!!
He might look like one but 'The Lister' is no Rat!
Rodents are fast, generally!
Alex and Gus got the gun ready for some fresh ink on some new skin...
Alex was running some personal steeze with Monica from Overspray providing assistance.
Think those walls are 12 footers which makes that thing really tall!
Here, fishy, fishy.... I like Lister's Fish eye action. One of the benefits of having the same camera.
The last of the die-hards were clearing out.
Lister was still on a mission.
Brent was wrapping it up, but not before we exchanged a few dislocated body part stories. (Grab the elbow and pull toward the body, like a clock. It works brother)
The last of the supplies...
An American classic.
And Americas future.
This is like that moment in pulp fiction when they open the brief case and all you see is the gold glow... You know there is something to see but you just don't get to see it... While the final 4 still stand: The Lister, Despot. John Dow, and myself.
It's six minutes till 5 am, and time to hit it.
With a little luck I will be on and off this bitch by 6am.
Well, thanks to 'The Lister' sideshow I get to watch the sunrise over NYC. Hey thanks buddy, was a treat...
